For Gnomeregan, Or, Why I’m a Gnome Clone and So Should YOU!

Last week, Alas wrote an anniversary post to commemorate her two years as a part of the WoW Blogosphere.  Included were lots of different screenshots and stories of some of her favorite things she did in her “early years” of WoW, and there was one story in particular that sounded incredibly fun:

I couldn’t tell you what sparked it. But I do recall rolling up a gnome warlock with the intention of PvPing with her. At copied the model I used and swapped out two letters in the name. Then other people from the guild got in on it.

Gnome.  Clones.

Of course I was intrigued.  Turns out, so were a lot of other people.  Alas got a ton of comments on her post and on Twitter from people who said they would love to give this a go.

And then, <Punt This> was born.  Thanks to a Google Doc Alas created, several of us were able to gather our ideas for what our Gnome Clones would look like, where we would create them, what classes would be involved, and all the other necessary details.  My major contribution was proving that I know way too much about what hairstyles, faces, and hair colors are available for gnomes.  I … have made a lot of them over the years.

You realize this is basically a dream come true for me?

So why should you want to join in on this fantastic outing of gnomey PvP goodness?  Well I’ll tell you.

• Gnomes.  I won’t even elaborate on this point because , I mean, gnomes.
• PvP gurus Cynwise and Psynister are on hand to assist with twink gearing and knowledge.
• Most importantly, this is an opportunity to get to hang out and play WoW with other bloggers and faces from around the WoW community.  It’s a great chance to get to meet and speak to the people whose blogs you’ve been reading and commenting on for years now.  Who could ask for more than that?
